Join us!

Flyover Indies is a community led organization. This means that anyone, so long as they put in the work and respect our values, can become a part of our leadership. If you have an idea for a great game related or development related project or event, join our community and we help to make it happen!

Joining Flyover Indies is free and as easy as becoming a Member of our Discord. If you're interested in helping out and contributing more to the community by running events or bringing something else to the group, you then can apply to be an Organizer or Mentor!

Members

Flyover Indies is primarily comprised of Members, it's free to become one and as easy as joining our Discord! We welcome anyone of any experience or skill level who has an interest in game development or a field adjacent to game development, like design, writing, art, or music.

Whether you've never made a game before, or you're a seasoned AAA veteran, you'll find a welcoming and friendly community with Flyover Indies. An interest in making games is what ties us together. Our only expectation of Members is that you follow our Code of Conduct.

Organizers

Organizers help Flyover Indies by doing self-directed projects for the community, such as planning events like game jams or discussion groups, running a workshop to teach others a new skill, or generally driving Flyover Indies forward to new adventures.

Anyone can pitch an actionable idea for the benefit of the community. Other Organizers and Mentors will review the idea to make sure it's attainable and in line with our values. You can also group up with others to work as a team, or add people to the team as the project goes on, and any Member that joins a team will become an Organizer.

6 months after successfully completing your last project your role resets to Member. This is meant to keep the leadership in the organization organic. Anyone actively pursuing another project, maintaining an ongoing one, or helping with others' projects will be exempt from this. You can apply as many times as you like, and can be an Organizer more than once.

Mentors

Mentors are more experienced members of Flyover Indies, they are role models in the community and have previously served as an Organizer. Mentors are the leadership of Flyover Indies.

Anyone who was an Organizer and successfully completed their project can apply to become a Mentor. Mentors help guide Organizers in their action plans, and assist however they can to make them a success, which includes reviewing and accepting pitches. Mentors also help with general community facilitation and keep Flyover Indies accountable to its mission and conduct standards. Applications are reviewed by both Organizers and Mentors.
